shift of shadow (popping in for Vet's Day) |

with him, in silence... (does he see the shift of shadow?) Does the limb of that tall tree, toss grenade, a breeze to flee? traces--fear-- (silent, I am not welcome here...) But still I am, to hold his hand, futile, but to wipe a tear. to see his eyes in flash of love, life compromised? His heart, a mine-field--step away, (I'll never know how it got that way...) Feeling tremor in his hands, I squeeze too tight to understand... repost in honor of my veteran friends, with gratitude and compassion. |
