Leave My Heart Out Of It Is it OK if I call you friend, My Friend? Cause I'm not supposed to love the caring kind Here in my heart I'm supposed to believe their heartless hands didn't hurt And, never defend their words of hatred stuck here in my mind... I am to place my faith in what they led me to believe That this girl can only know what it's like to fall It didn't matter if tears dropped like the blood just as visible to the eye It just meant I had to leave my heart out of it all... So, I tried, and I remained there lifeless for what seemed eternity All the while still trying to find an ounce of good in the bad they would do But, when I spoke of the trail of pain my feet left behind to you I somehow DID find comfort when I'm not supposed to... Now, sweetness snuck upon me from a strangers heart I'm just curious how you've become the wonderful man you've become Because even though I never knew the mighty sun felt so warm I'm finding myself feeling loved in spite of what they've done... So, is it OK if I call you friend, My Friend? You proved to me it's OK to reach out They showed me pain but you're willing to chase away my rain So, how do I leave my heart out of it now?... If I could find more ways to say thank you I surely would Just for showing me that in my lifetime I'd find some good So, allow me to call you friend, My Friend, that you have been of mine But, understand if I fail to leave my heart out of it this time... *Sauni* Sauni @~~~>~~ |
