I'm Only Human I need relief … I cannot cope, There's too much on my plate; I somehow have to slow things down Before it is too late. I've lost the inspiration That I held in youthful dreams; I just exist … I do not "live", Forgotten how, it seems. There's nothing anyone can do, I only blame myself, I don't know how to say "enough", Or how to ask for help. I drift from day to day and try To see the light ahead; An effort in futility, That fills my heart with dread. I know you think that I am strong, If only that were true; But each day I grow weaker, From the trials I wander through. My mind is scattered, thoughts a'whirl, I don't know where to turn; I'm only human, nothing more … When will I ever learn? I simply smile and carry on, Pretend I'm doing fine … But all the while, I'm sinking 'neath The quicksand of my mind. /Kit McCallum PS … I don't want anyone to worry (that's my job).  I'll be OK … just the result of too much work, and very little play. If anyone has an extra though … I could use a hug? |

Kit, goodness...I soooo can relate. Let me guess...You smile when you have to and laugh when you need to and everyone thinks you are superwoman? I feel for you, I do. My whole life has been the way you are writing about and still is. To the outsiders I am everybit of OK, never weak, always strong, but on the inside I am never seen. Don't do what I did...pretending you can take on the world. Sorta like what you wrote about pretending. For you will find yourself to be just hurting yourself. I don't know how to make those giant size HUGS, so will a small one do? I'm sorry you feel overwhelmed. Someone out there isn't carrying their Atlas share! OK, fess up...who dropped the ball? Seriously, watch a cartoon or a fantasy..."Harry Potter" will do. He can carry a really big load from what I've heard. |

Here's a heart-hug for you, Kit. One of the most elusive quests in life, I find, is the attainment of Balance. You've got to understand the two extremes before you can appreciate the "sweet spot" in the center. Since all is relative, remember: how can you know where you're at if you don't have a point of reference to where you've been? If saying no is too difficult, just add a "thank you" after it. Stress you say! First this was a great write Kit, and man can I relate. You see the typing of a an "ocd-er" that has finally learned her lesson. I pushed and pushed and pushed, took on too much, and now I had to come home and take care of another "burnout sesson" armed with a bag full of pills from the doctor! Okay - I have more years at this than you do - and after this last one where I actually slept 26 hours straight from being burnt out, I can tell you this - IT CAN WAIT! Balance is the key, and anything that is not "your stuff" don't touch it, fix it, or even look at it" then it will become your stuff! Man, after these two weeks of stress I could write a book but the key is moderation, eat well, try to shut it off, LOL, I know you realize this, but I thought I would put it in print here. Take care and remember - it will still be there tomorrow trust me. psst - look at my signature it says it all!~*~ Carpe' Diem ~*~ |

Kit, Here is the advantage of age: I’m Only Human and I’m Old I used to need relief…I couldn’t cope, There was too much on my plate. I used to have to slow things down, Before it was too late. I had lost my inspiration, That I held in youthful days. I just existed…I did not “live”, I had forgotten how it seemed. There was nothing anyone could do, I could only blame myself.
