For My Tina. At the start a caterpiller, All wriggly and cute. Then as you reached, two years old, so cheeky and astute. Nine and ten, a Barbie fan, full of sugar and Spice Girls. Twelve brought dresses, a passion for fashion painted nails and hair curls. Thirteen came trouble, as you tested the rules. By breaking each one. You played us for fools. Now suddenly a gentle faze, so much like a crysalis. You talk and tell me how you feel. So long I've waited for this. Yet day by day, I look and see, the emerging butterfly. A subtle gain in confidence, a beauty that makes me sigh and I accept with certainty. That the day shall surely come, when you are completely butterfly, the transformation done. My heart will swell with motherly pride, at the beauty I will see and though I'll ache to keep you close, I'll know to set you free. To embark upon your adult life. The majical mystery ride, that every butterfly must take, as soon as its wings are dry. by Ven. (dedicated to my daughter). |

A very special time. Keep this poem close, and someday, you will give it to HER daughter... |
