I salute all the Veterans
From the civil war to Vietnam
From Omaha beach to the New York City streets
I am proud of this great country’s veterans

You fought with courage
You stood against enemies unknown
You faced them severely out numbered
To the point of being discouraged

You were captured but you never gave up
Some were shot but you never quit fighting
I for one am proud to be an American
To the veterans every where I raise my cup

From wars I only read about
Just a little before my time
To the war that I grew up with
Which in this country was a sad time

Although I did not like the war
I am proud of the ones that went
That was an ugly time and place
But still our young men and women, we sent

This past September a new war came
It was not the first time America had been attacked
But this one was done by a hidden foe
That was a very sad day when we were attacked

Seems to me that these so called smart men
Would read the history books
Just to see what happens when
War is brought to America

Our countries veterans rally
Roaring to go
Even the new recruits soon to be veteran
Are ready to even the tally

I salute the American Veterans
You honor me with your presence
I take my hat off to each and everyone of you
For without you America would not be America

A hearty thank you
From a very grateful

alan

Alan - Very nicely written. Chris
