I find myself talking
Though I’m alone in the house
Nothing stirs here but me
No cat, no dog, no mouse

I laugh at my jokes
Thinking I’m a clever one
it echoes down the hall
When punch line is done

Don’t worry that I’ll succumb
To madness or disease
But don’t talk back because
I’ve only myself to please

It’s nice here in my aloneness
No one jabbers endlessly
Excuse me please, I must go
I’m talking now to me.

ROFL at this one. I can relate to this one. I talk to myself all the time...heck, I'm the only one who'll listen. Even the cat just gives me dirty looks unless she wants something.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

I definitely hear ya! I also talk to myself especially in the mirror hehe.
It's nice to know that I am not the only one who does it, I was begining to think I was a wacko : )

I've found that it's ok to talk to yourself. . .it's when you answer yourself that you should start to worry. . . LOL

I enjoyed this one deVine. . .

silence
the golden
truth echoed off
walls meeting ceilings
meeting walls meeting
floors, waxed by the wane
of vanishing voices
heard, but not,
a shot in the dark room,
visited by frequent reality
piped in, in tune with tunes,
accentuating the difference
of noise

we sit
alone
poised

allowing the rhythm
of deaf ears,
bereft of
pain and want,
the taunt of walls
chiming the yes
of a soul fully aware!

i'm talking to me now
since i am there!

i loved your poem, sharon... i hope it was ok that you inspired me to tag onto it... it's a beautiful thing, i feel, when others touch each others souls with words and your words did that to me and so, i wrote it down......

thank you, my friend..... truly!!!!

Being alone is definitely a unique feeling.  Enjoyed this much, deVine.
