First Freeze purple petunia trumpets at rigid attention coated in glaze, sunflower~ tall, spindly, as petals weep toward earth, grass sprinkled with confectioner's sugar, kamikaze maple leaves leap to ground as stems melt their grips kitten huddles in tight, gray angora as frost threatens whisker tips my elbows' edges sense mother nature's shiver as shoulders draw them ever closer nov 7 2001 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
