He laid the phone down
Nervously
Shaking
In profusely sweating quakes

Hating himself

23 years of Drug enforcement
He’d made it unscathed
Until the day
Greed set in
Pride was replaced

He’d lost his youth
His wife...his home
From his dedication to duty

Drunk and guttered
In depression
“Why not help yourself
To a little deal on the side”
The beast of inferiority
Grumbled inside

Unbeknownst to him
The Latino Drug Lord
Edwardo Escabria
Knew his weak attempts,
Settling the score
Outsmarted by a larger serpent
Than himself

Caught...mysteriously redirecting
A shipment...Edwardo had tracked
The web address
Directly to his office

He sat in heaves of dry gut
Recalling the moment
Edwardo and his machine men
Cornered him at his own desk

How he’d closed his eyes
Saying good-by
With the metal shoved
In his mouth
His spine slid farther south

By Miracle of God
Suzette’s file lay open
Edwardo eyed words Confidential
Intrigued at the face
Staring back from the page

“Mmmmm who’s this filly?”

The metal removed he was allowed
To speak “She’s one of us”

“No...she is exquisite! Much
More than you.. my pathetic Warren”

With his spine completely gone
He’d begun to ramble, spit and stutter
“Just do it...what are you waitin’ for?
I’m a ghost...I’m already dead.
So pull the trigger!
I always wanted to go at home
This damn office is my home!!
He screamed in desperation

“Oh no...I have a new plan
As he picked up the photo
Of Warren’s Daughter
She doesn’t look like you.
I wonder how she would love to
Ride my prized steed?”

Warren had bled through his thoughts
He’d not figured the grotesque mind
He was shocked at his mental decline
Unwilling to entertain the excursion
Of Edwardo’s sickness..His perversions

NO-Don’t go there Edwardo!
Name it...anything
I swear I’ll deliver!

“Deliver me Suzette”
Nonchalantly he’d rolled into play.

He’d went from one shock to another
“What? She...she is.. very incorruptible!
He’d rolled his eyes in broader statement.

“Delicious then!
Her delivery
Will be Overnight, No?”
You have...24 hours
For me to play with my new toy.
Or your baby will be a china doll.
Fragile is she?”....

Warren raced to the next scene
In his mind play..of flooding gall
How he’d fled the building
Knowing..of Suzette’s arrival
She’d be returning from mission
Any second on the midnight train

He’d sped to the station
Harrowing down the steps
Unbelieving of his own agility

Unbelieving of the coincidence
Of the replay from 3 years ago
When he’d heard muffled sounds
Just around the curve of the tunnel
Where she’d been ambushed
By a known criminal
Managing to overpower her
He’d Duct taped and bladed her blouse
Branding her hand in his serial signature

Ironic...how he delivered her
From one mad man
Just to deliver to another.

(sigh) So ironic indeed! My heart cries out to this poor man and the pain he feels for spending much of his manhood in the business and regretting it and now having to settle the score for Suzette's love. (sad sigh) BRAVO!!! I LOVE THIS SERIES!!! MORE, MORE, I CAN'T WAIT!!! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Regina, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Dear Regina, where does this imagination of yours come from, I am sure soon you will be producing a book which will be a best seller indeed. Really great work, but I must say I am missing your poetry a little.

Keep penning Regina, look forward to the next read.

Sincerely
Rick

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?
