My dearest,

Tomorrow brings heaviness to my heart.
I, this mere man, do depart your embrace.
My ship awaits me, my duty does call.
I leave saddened at the sight of tears.
I leave heartened to know you await me.

You have given me the greatest moments.
Moments which remain within me even now.
Moments that will become an eternity in time.
I smile as my mind sees you once again.

The ocean, though the place of my call
does not capture me as you surely have.
The winds of the sails will fill with air.
My heart fills too, with your abounding love.

I know not where this journey will lead.
I cannot say if three moons will set before..
before my eyes again see your beauty.
Tears do  flow freely, mixing with the seas.

As I walk a lonely narrow plank to destiny
I shall see your smile, feel your embrace.
I shall turn as I always do, I will gaze..
The image of you will within me stay.

The depths of the oceans, though great
hold not the depth of love of you I have.
The stars of the nights shine not as bright
as your eyes upon which mine own hold.

Be here waiting in your heart.
Be here calling me in your mind.
Rest assured my darling,  as I part
faithfully you I will return and find.

Thanx Nancy...in real life I have done this
many many times...sad times...but she was
always there waiting for me when I returned.
And she is still here today...I am blessed.

Lady of S.  I guess I could say that it is
poems like this that remind me of her and
all that she endured each day that I was
away...Always there waiting for me...Was
such a delight seeing her with such a smile
on her face...that and the anxiousness on
my own part...wanting to jump across the
expanse between us and hold her so close to
me.

Doreen, Doreen,  your words....so keen.
Warm thoughts with a sheen.
Saying thoughts first seen.
Oh yes,  thank you...Doreen.

Now I am getting silly too.....

A sailor's love is deep
A sailor's love is true
A sailor's love's to keep
And I dearly thank you.

Thanx Wynter...happy you enjoy my words.

Yep - was there, on that ship when it put to sea, wrote the letter too - one to Long Beach, one to Los Angles, Compton, Frisco, San Diego...(and they all knew about each other too - so there!)

Really neat write and read, my friend.

have....and yes,  they are still alive...
just talk in a different voice now...LOL...

Thanx.
