I don't think for a moment
that you are entwined around my loving finger
but oh how sweet is this delirious wish for it.
You see, I wouldn't wind with cunning vicious ways.
You would not be grounded with mind mischief
but your will would be rolled up with love
made comforatable and waited on feet and fingers
by adoration, affection, and my smiles.
I don't entertain notions
that I could be without your voice
for more than a day or two.
You see,
these notes my heart keeps leaving on life's refrigerator
are so constant that I could wallpaper my dreams with them;
and I am one more footfall closer to making you real
with each day I wake up to the absence of your lips.
When did life take the wrong fork in the road?
When did I become so succeptible to every detailed whim
of a headstrong need?
I'm screaming inside to get out of myself
I'm not sure who made my shell
but I want a refund
because the real me is still waiting to take your hand.
Where, along the way, did I loose myself to bitterness
and lack of hope?
It is this that barricades me from you
and I will make my way through it whether you stay
or whether I am to meet with an empty mist eventually.
I don't think for a moment that you're wrapped around my life
with a strong anchor grasping the sand below
in firm decision
but oh how this beach would have a little more life if you were.

Sometimes the heart needs the solace of solitude and silence.

(sad sigh) Oh Jennifer, this is so so sad but beautiful! (big hugggsssss) Love will come to your heart, and then you will be singing on the beach as you hold his hand and share true love! I really like this one. . . the depth of feeling here (if you'll forgive my repeating that phrase a lot with you), is getting better and better with every poem that you write. . . keep looking, I know that there's more there. . .
