In times of trouble,
fear and doubt,
it pays to cast your LOVE about,
and focus on the WE and THEE,
and not the tribulations of ME.
Put the needs of the children first,
or the elderly , disabled or lonely.
To the sick and the poor
if you'll open your heart's door
you'll find your heart's sailing
on a swifter breeze,
taking you to sheltered shores,
where PEACE awaits with open arms
to rescue you from drowning harms
and shelter you from the stormy seas.
For casting your line out
let's you reel yourself in,
and keeps the storms at bay,
while letting tides of PEACE rush in.
For Cristopher Reeve..a real-life Superman

inspired by reading
"Still Me", by Christopher Reeve

Alan, thank you so much. I am glad that I 'captured' Superman. He really is a brave hero.

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Thanks, Startime. Whenever I start to feel sorry for myself, I look to this image of Superman, who flies high above the maddening crowd, like wonderful dove.

Noah, this one's got you flying high   But then you are usually on cloud 9 anyway.
Look up in the sky, it's Noah, with Mistletoe.

Love this, Chris Reeve turned out to be more of a superman than we ever knew. But I still remember George Reeve on tv in black and white.."faster than a speeding bullter..more powerful than a locomotive.." Yep, I'm old.

Great poem Kacy. We all get so caught up in "me, me , me,"... we have to remember to stand back and think of others and put them first sometimes. Thanks for the reminder. And though I have not read his book, I have followed Christopher Reeves story, and he is indeed a remarkable human being. Thanks for the reminder

Sandra, Walker, Nancy, Tracey, thankyou for reading this. (And I remember the 'old' Superman too, who was also handsome and brave) This book is so interesting, I cannot stop reading it. And it keeps me in tune with positive thinking, which has been difficult to these past few weeks. Thanks again for flying with me on this one.

I was saddened the day that one of my
favorite stars was struck down in such a
tragic accident.  I am so proud to see
that our Superman is certainly just that.
For he has struggled long and hard to be
who he is now....A real life Superman.

An inspiration to us all....just another
thing we need to have so that we can keep
our normal ho-hum lives in perspective when
we think our world has dealt us a bad blow.

thanks for this...well said.  a very fitting
tribute.

Thank you so much, Magnus. Somehow, I think he knows what a wonderful inspiration he is. And as he struggles everyday to do the most basic things we usually take for granted, he still finds time to write, act, speak publicly, and inspire those around him to do their best. What more could anyone ask for in a hero????

Midnitesun,
That's an awful lot of wisdom packed into one poem! So full of truth. We should never forget it or superman.

Thank you Larry. There is so much more to this story, but this was enough for one poem. I've started working on one called Superman's Wife, but won't post it 'till I feel it is really 'Dana.'  Dana Reeve is an amazingly strong woman. I guess you could call her Superwoman, but I don't know if she would like that title.

By opening our hearts we can sometimes rescue many in need of help.  We don't always need to have a big *S* on our chests.  You have a lot of wisdom, my friend.  Teach what you have learned to others, please.  Thank you for this!

Michael, good to see you here tonight. Literally SEE you here.   Thanks for your generous words. I sincerely believe what I wrote. But the inspiration came from Chris Reeve, whose story is a source of strength for me.
