A lot of people wonder why-
I just dropped out of sight.
I used to get around a lot...
And had a lot of fights-

I probably hurt some people
No doubt, a few have cried.
Some, maybe even wonder,
If I went away and died.

But I guess it may have been the years
It may have been the miles.
It may have been the heartaches-
That kind of crimped my style.

It may have been, I realized-
Life's far too short to waste...
It's meant to be enjoyed-
So I thought I'd stop and taste...

The pleasure of a sunset
On the broad West Texas plains.
The beauty of the turning leaves-
The fragrance when it rains.

The love of raising children...
Some peace instead of strife-
The comfort of a rocking chair,
In the twilight of my life.

Wonderful first post, John.  Looking back and reflecting on the past usually has this kind of effect on people.  I hope things are as you always hoped they would be now.

Thank you Lone Wolf, but you already know me. I just decided to start using my real name. Thanks Liz. It's good to be back. Thank you both for the welcome.

*sigh* it is so good to read your words again and get lost in the talent and beauty of them. My heart missed a beat when I saw your name for your words have always been those that have taken me to far off lands and times with the music you weave around a campfire. BRAVO!!!!So magnificent to see you here, John.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Very nice, John - as usual...

If you want your work all under one name, just add your name to Ron's thread about the next name change sweep - I think it's in Announcements... He'll combine you into one if you'd like...

I like reflective poems, especially when they have a positive feeling, as this one does. Nice to see you back again.

John, I thoroughly enjoyed this read. Chris
