Even though Hurricane Michelle is not a direct threat to us here in Florida, I get worried because shelters don't admit pets. So I wrote this about my pets. There's a storm coming No Pets in the shelters they say But what I'm I to do with all my pets in this mess I have a Chihuahua who thinks he's a gator but can't really swim Two cockateals as fat as chickens with clipped wings A yellow parakeet that bite like a Pitbull A fish who refuses to die A possum that lives in my garden who thinks that he's family Four stray cats that claim my Chihuahua's their dad An iguana who guard my front window Can I leave behind all these creatures? |

Walker....I can relate to this very well. Having endured Hurricane Hugo in 1989, I had the responsibility for not just my family but our pets as well. fortunately we did not have to leave our home. Hurrican Floyd was a different story...We had to leave the state, leave our pets behind and pray they were safe with our house. Once again we were fortunate. They were fine. But the feeling of leaving them behind is no different than when you leave a family member.... I hope all goes well. Thanx very much for giving us this poem of feelings for some of our creatures that love us too. |

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Walker, I wonder the exact same thing; all animals should be cared for always, and it seems so cruel or unjust to leave them behind in the time of a disaster. (sad sigh) My heart goes out to them all, and I hope someone can reach out and care for your pets during Michelle's storm. (sigh) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

I understand how you feel. I have 6 dogs, 3 birds, 2 cats, 2 goats and 4 beta fish. And, I have had to face this, when a tornado came. It's a very hard decision to have to make. |

Can relate to this one, walker. Seems many of us have menageries. Have wondered about this very thing. Cute write. Let's just hope those cats don't start looking for child support from that killer chihuhua. |
