Unfolding

Like the softness
of a well worn quilt,
I am unfolding before you.
Yesterday, emerging,
coming to light with myself,
each day a new dawn of growth.

Today, I rise
leaking out past hurt,
trying to deplete myself
of all things negative,

wishing I could escape to you,
unburden myself
in the warmth of your arms,
absorb your strength,
occupy your mind,
smother in kisses
that always tone down my extremes,
blending me in shades of your gray
'til

Like the softness
of a well worn quilt,
I unfold unto you.

"For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart.
It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul."
(J.Garland)

smother in kisses
that always tone down my extremes,

Love those words...and the candlelit feel from beginning to end.

I read this yesterday but found myself too
awestruck to comment so I came back today to reply.

The expression of the quilt unfolding sent me twisting into space, words which have been shared with someone very close that is no longer ..., as if you could read a corner of my mind, your words warmed and shined a loving light. A simply awesome piece, my heart is with you Maureen. I tend to enjoy the moments in life that form the patches on my quilt, there are many !!!
