I chanced an adventure yesterday a rendezvous, that I should have, but did not resist. The lure of sailing was beckoning me. I boarded, without looking back, inhaling the fresh air as if it were meant to be. We caught the wind; we sailed the sea. And I, for an afternoon, relived my time with you, my love, when we owned the water, when passion gave us permission to skim the surface without a care. Destination never mattered, it was just you and me. We reveled in the wetness, the taste of salt on our skin, in our hair. We laughed; we played; we were free. The sun now reaches towards the water's edge; we are overdue at the dock. Reluctantly, we head to dry land. With each step closer to home, I re-vow my celibacy to the sea...if I just don't go near the dock, if I don't breathe the wetness drifting in the breeze.... Alibis and excuses readied, I close the door softly, careful to avoid eye contact with the harbor master, but as always, he is busy, too busy to notice my salt tipped composure, too busy to notice the broken promises weighing down my eyes. Night falls, alone in my bed, I fight the shivering storms, the churning waves. Timbers shiver and creak into exhausted compliance, closed eyes free me to sail once again... oh, I claim poetic liscense on this one, I am NOT a sailor...I get 'sailing' doesn't ever seem go well with me *smile* [This message has been edited by jellybeans (edited 11-04-2001).] |
