Canvas of the Heart

A clean white sheet of paper is a canvas of the heart
Enticing mystic pen of words to sketch poetic art
To leave life’s silhouette inscribed upon a screen of light
Soft footprints of intrigue across a snowy field of white

Just as a brook meanders through a crisp December snow
Defining paths through powered crest as waters wind and flow
So does enchanting ink through depths of inspiration wend
Fine silky strings of black on white fed by a poet’s pen

The first touch of the ink to page is like a child’s birth
The genesis of thought appears in phrase upon the earth
Then words beget a written verse, which turns intrinsically
To lyrics of the songs of life in lovely poetry

How beautiful the story told in verse of rhythmic rhyme
As words unlock the mysteries inside a poet’s mind
When all the words have been engraved, a poet takes delight
In picking up another empty page of snowy white

Liz--I don't think that white page has ever intimidated you with its emptyness...your words always flow with constant know.

Elizabeth sometimes it is very satisfying...and sometimes frustrating...I can remember many times after I wrote a poem thinking "I love this poem"...even if others do not see the heart of the poem I do...James

Elizabeth, this was such a true and inspiring piece, for every time I read what you put on snowy white, I wish to try harder.  Lovely.

(big hugggsssssss) Soooooo beautiful! (smiles) The first breath of a child and his or her innocence is the first line of a life's canvas, and as ones heart grows, so does the description of his or her loving heart! (sigh) I love it!!! (kiss on cheek) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Liz, you could paint a pretty picture on dirty linens and I'd read it.

~As words unlock the mysteries inside a poets mind~

Your rhythm and flow were exquisite.

A poets words can paint the prettiest pictures, and you've done just that and more.

And no-one paints words with their pen any better than you do.  I have said it many times and I will say it many many more I am sure.  Your verses and creative talents have many times given me the kick I needed to explore the depths of imagery mixed with emotion.  This piece from you spells that out quite wonderfully and as always your rhyme is splendid beyond compare.  Excellent flow as well and of course the subject is a given to be a winner.  Very much enjoyed.
