Standing inside the granite walls Knowing not which one of them falls a thousand wait impending fate when released from within a gate. A battle field of crimson near Hearts bled of souls that know no fear. Covered with scores of those who fight. Warriors led on by horse born knights. Hear the clash of steel and the cry As archers arrows released fly Pour oil upon the fields below as wide eyes tell a tale of woe. Hear the sound of trumpets berate. Shout the battle cry, storm the gate Keep maids huddled in towers well Defeat a thought ye let not dwell. Guard the kingdom and all the lands Keeping the peace with bloodied hands Living life of the strong and brave. War on in battle fearless knave. Once the day becomes now the night march within the walls till safe light Sharpen the steel axe for the day of battle again in harm's way. |

You have brought this battle to life in vivid detail, my friend. I can see the knights on the field fighting for their lives and I can feel the hearts of their maidens praying for their safe return. Another masterpiece from your pen. ![]() ![]() Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams. |

Very well written, and wonderful imagery. I can see the battle raging as it would have in the days of knights. I can also see the metaphor.... for modern day city living. ![]() Poetry is an expression of feelings. I do not write poems, but rather, the poems use me to write themselves. |
