where the sky and horizon meet

0 posted 2001-11-05 05:17 PM

I think of all the friendships
that could have been but were not
because I was to shy to say
you're nice, I like you a lot.

Ever since I was a little girl
and my parents nudged me to try
I couldn't say hello to the other kids
I was too scared, too unworthy, too shy.

Now I'm nearing 20 years of age
and I certainly have come a long way
but still I hesitate and still I worry
and so inside myself I stay.

I want to shed these layers of skin
that hide all my hidden intricacies
I'm made up of more than this giggle and smile
but no one ever looks in and sees.

So tear me apart, pick me thin
leave me shivering and completely exposed
then pick up the pieces of all that is me
and love me now for all that you know.

Your beautiful words & creativity allow me to connect with the same in myself.
Thank you for having the courage to share yourself so that I can too

Beautifully written....Now, if by chance the
pieces are picked up,  step up and say Hi.
For that is what I say to you....Hi...
Enjoyed this poem.

Dear one... there will be a day..and someone will look into your eyes and see the more that lies below...and I am sure be captivated with what they see...

nicely written...and indicative of the isolationw e often feel in our lives...
speak up... say hello... and see what and where life leads you... I am sure it will serve up to you both heartbreak and ecstacy... just don't let the heartbreak break you...

Go forth boldly and with confidence,
and know that you have something
no one else can offer...
your own unique being.
And it is a beautiful soul,
waiting to be set free
to say 'Hello' to people
just like me.

Magnus~ Thank you, your words are more encouragement than you know!

Cat Hair~ Well there is this someone....   So yes, I know what you mean.  I'm just still a little too shy for my liking and was inspired to write about it and I thought posting it might help me to sort of get over it a bit somehow.  I was deathly afraid to   but already I feel better thanks to you and Magnus!
I appreciate your thoughts and advice...and I will keep your last words on life close to home, "it will serve up to you both heartbreak and ecstacy... just don't let the heartbreak break you..."

Hugs to both of you!

Your beautiful words & creativity allow me to connect with the same in myself.

Its hard to shed our protective shell,
especially since it has protected so well.
But you will find in the passing days
your harder self is only a passing phase.

We all share times like these ...
so take your time and be pleased!!!

From what I can see you have all ready
spread your angelic wings and are learning
the wonders of flight. Happy trails!!

I know where you are coming from because I used to be there myself.  The only one who can get rid of those layers and overcome the shyness is you.  By reading this, I think you can do it.  Just take it one day at a time.  Nice write.

All writing comes
by the grace of God.

There are many that I wonder about ... "if only I would have stepped up and tipped the brim of my Stetson to".  I think most of us go through it now and then.  You have written it well and now go out and make a new friend.  Wonderful read.

A girl once said hello to me,
could I say hello back?
My own shyness told me to flee
but instead I just sat.

So I replied with a hello, shyly
and perhaps a little wince.
I then saw things in her others couldn't see
and I've loved her ever since.

Afraid to say hello at 20 years of age? Hell I haven't figured out how to do that at 38 yet!! LOL. Hopefully, you'll figure it out a little better than I did. And writing like this is a good start. I really like this. Speaks of a lot of things I have felt and still do.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

LoneWolf~ *sigh*  you're right...it's a scary thought!  But you're right.  I am trying    Thank you for your two cents and encouragement!

Cowboy Mark~ Thank you for understanding, I tip my Stetson to you    and it's nice to see your name again!

Alan~ Thank you very much

SH~ hehe, awww   Thank you for taking the time to get to know me, and loving me anyways!    I love you

Tracey~ Hehe, thank you so much for that    I really don't feel alone anymore in my shyness as many people here have said they've felt the same!  Let's try and get over it eh?

Hugs to all of you!

Each of you has a heart of gold
spreading smiles all around
you give encouragement so freely
and make me lift off the ground.

I may not know you personally
and I hope that will not always be so
but you've acted as friends to me here
and given me room to grow!

Thank you all so much
