~No Longer~

When I look into your eyes ... and no longer see my reflection there,
when your lips no longer seek mine...even then I wont believe you no longer care.
When the stars all cease to sparkle ... and I am no longer the wish you wish upon,
when I call to you at night ... even in the silence ... I wont accept you are gone.

If I reach out for you ... and find only emptiness where your warmth used to be,
If I play our special song ... and find you're not there to dance with me.
If I compose you a love poem ... but find you no longer wish to read my rhyme,
If I ask a prophet and he tells me ... fate and destiny ... passed over me this time.

All these things could never convince me ... that I must now let go of you ...
there is only one thing that would offer proof ... one word that would ring true.
For if the time should come ... that you no longer find your inspiration in me ...
that is when my heart will know ... there is no longer an us ... we now cease to be.

If I am no longer your muse ... if I am no longer your reason for poetry.

Janet Marie

~Testament Of The Heart~

I, being of sound mind and body ... do now bequeath to you my heart ...
I've no need of its services anymore ... it's just a useless orb now that we're apart.
And while I am at it ... allow me to surrender to you ... my soul,
It's merely an empty shadow now ... as losing you has taken a costly toll.

Next I wish to return to you ... my fascination ... my anticipation,
now only words cliche' ... along with imagination ... and my inspiration.
Take with them my vision ... things of beauty I no longer need to behold,
no need for twilight sunsets, silvered moonbeams ... nor nature's secrets untold.

Last ... but never ... ever least ... I leave to you my need of poetry,
I've no use for my muse ... unable to write the rhymes to bring you back to me.
All these things I leave behind ... promises engraved in verse and rhyme,
along with love unending ... this testament of my heart etched in the sands of time.

Janet Marie

thank you to my "silent admirer" for requesting these be reposted...
That they are special to you...makes them even more special.

This distance has shown how the road remains alone
Now I'm looking in my life ... for a truth that is my own.

I appreciated the beauty of No Longer when I read it before and wished... now, I just wish my uninspiring self had appreciated the truth of it sooner... so that Testament didn't ache with such familiarity. *S*

The archives hold so many gems... this is great work, JM.

Janet, today is a good day, indeed. I duck in before work to see what I might find and lo and behold, oldies but goodies from you and a new one from Mark. Thanks for these, simply stunning.

Dear Janet, Both are so enriched with longing. To be loved in such words that come from you....would be hard...because of the deepness and talent it would take. But still...it should be their life's quest. I hope you never stop penning the way to your heart....

Sincerely,
Regina

I guess I too fall into the category of silent admirers... I have enjoyed all I have seen of your work, the richness, the feelings, the talent with which you write. Perhaps I have been too silent... or such words as you share should indeed be recognized and applauded more often.

REPOST?????? What the heck are you doing reposting for?  OHHHHHHHHHHHH ... it was a request!!! Whew...........for a minute there I thought you were going to try and get away with that missing muse ploy again.  Now that you have blessed us and your silent admirer with these beauties (and by the way ... You know I really like that "Testament of the Heart" one ) POST ANOTHER JM ORIGINAL FOR YOUR FANS and fellow poetry-holics.  Very wonderful works here dear friend and of course I know you are waiting for the rhyme, inner rhyme, cadence, flow, and all that but hey.....try picking up the phone and maybe I'll tell ya in person. LOL  Gotta go.....now where have you heard that one before?

"I, being of sound mind and body ... do now bequeath to you my heart ..."

Ahhhh ... that line is simply music to my ears ... so wonderfully unique and creative, an exquisite concept Janet Marie! Of course ... you know I love every flowing line throughout both, but this is one of those "oh, I wish I'd thought of that" ones, LOL. Excellent writing JM, beautifully descriptive throughout ... very much enjoyed gator gal!

Best wishes,
/Kit
