Deep in the heart

Elizabeth, sweet Elizabeth
I sit almost embarrassed to death.
You think my deck is loaded for sure.
That's what Acme said in their brochure.

Methinks you had better watch your back
I will sneak up on you with a sack
throw you in and tie it up real tight,
only to protect me against your bite.

When I release you, in gratitude
you will throw your arms around this dude,
covering my face in wet kisses,
asking me to make you my missus.

Your sincerity overwhelms me
now the police come and I must flee.
~*~

An aside:  If you knew how hard it was for this Texas boy to use the word "dude" you would appreciate this much, MUCH more

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Interloper

Eight and counting, what a chore
Now you've got three hundred more
No need to bag me with a thud
For I have got Houdini blood
I cannot be bound or wrapped
I’ll let someone else get trapped
Too bad I called you Mr Roper
Larry’s much more apropos-per

Thank you for the poem, dear Texan

Interloper

Mr. Roper and Larry were two characters on a TV comedy called "Three's Company". Mr. Roper was a neighbor who had given up all notions of romance, to the chagrin of his wife, who tried everything to get him interested. Larry was a friend who went after anything in a skirt, and on a bet, one time wooed a seventy (or so) year old woman, confusing her with the one he was supposed to date. He complimented her perfume, and  asked what fragrance she was wearing, The answer, "BenGay"
I hope this clarifies my poem

Yes, Elizabeth, it does.  Now I am afraid quite another gauntlet has been cast down and when I have time to pick it up, rest assured I shall ... presupposing the presence of enough energy
