A sentinel, this sea whose frigid foam's a fluid picket assigned an anonymity to defend. The wind, it's constant howl shrieks a warning, as whirling cossack riding vigilant of solitudinal end. Snow, blinds on seamless shores, wide ramparts of this island, whose watch is served by stoic ghosts on iced parapets. Uneven cobblestones, ancient streets, attend as frozen moats, protecting hermitage unmoving rivulets. Pine not in sympathy, the self exiled poet, who forlorn so shuttered seeking solace for a wounded heart. As far as he could flee from the mainland, as this isle long torn against the warmer will of his chosen art. In cozy cottage lit by candles, dancing to the unseen draughts of silent whisperings from creviced winds Winter frames his windows, they're etched by ice to rounded portals, the long night's reflection only mirrors what's within. Here he's hibernated from the harmful heat known of passion and the souless hungry eyes so 'oft pitfalls. To write and read (to hide?) to diet from enamoured ration and freeze the mechanism of his watches call He's thus denied the feast, remote he hears not carnal growling, in time with space he prays his soul forget and in the thaw released to Spring a fleshier man revealing in solstice, life and not bones from it's banquet. "Happy people have no history" - French Proverb |

And hidden 'mongst decaying leaves he grieves silently in solitude but knows that Spring always arrives in dew time |

Wintering indeed...in feeling, movement, sight, sound, even taste in hungering for something more...or less the obsession. You are amazing...I've told you that...I tell you still... Sincerely, Regina |
