have watched my daughter Ashley
grow from so small...to so tall
so elegant and beautiful.

I have listened to her laughter.
I have consoled her from her fears.

I have answered a thousand questions.
I have heard countless complaints.

I watched her pull her first tooth.
I heard her very first word.

I caught her after her first step.
I put a bandage on her first scrape.

I rocked her tenderly to sleep.
Resting peacefully in my arms.

I gave her my first kiss.
I accepted her very first hug.

I took into my heart her first smile
with all of my love wrapped around.

I saw her in her first little dress
with flowers and bows and things.

So many firsts we have shared.
So many more yet to go.

And most of all.....I hope I am the first one she comes to
if she has a problem.  The first to tell something sad or
not good.   And when she leaves.....I want to be last to
say goodbye, to wish her well.  To hug and hold until
the next time.....when I want to be first again.

How sweet! It's good for her to have that support behind her. I'm sure that after she reads this, you'll be first for everything!

girl right now...sometimes thinks she is
much older....but always ready for a kiss

*sigh* a fathers love is truly a beautiful thing and you have put it perfectly in this wonderful poem. She is very lucky to have a dad who loves her as much as you do.

much she means to me. And I also pray I
never forget it either. She is 8...a very
beautiful little lady with long brown hair
and the bluest eyes....her name is Ashley
