Lavender Kisses

With the sun at my side even though winter is almost here
I woke with a moment to be a memory to last
For this morning had a tenderness like I rarely view
I just sat hoping that moment would surely pass...

For a great length of time I never took my eyes off of her
I just stared at her profile while tears fell within
Trying desperately to hold back what seems I spend a lifetime doing
Found me dreading another good-bye again...

With pearls and a dress and way too beautiful for the world
Found her physical self to feel anything but small
Though her appearance was of a princess but with her fake smile attached
I knew inside she wasn't feeling any beauty at all...

Her face all made up like a new identity for us all to see
Even trying to convince herself she was every bit of changed
It broke my heart even more when she looked into my eyes
There was this girl make believing she couldn't feel the rain...

A little blue on the eyelids much of the color of the sky
I thought for a moment if only I could make it feel like a spring day
Her cheeks the color of roses when the sun shines upon them
Still here I was begging for morning to take the pain away...

There was her hair of brown with blonde that danced through it all
I quickly thought of how much of me remains from  when I was young
With a little purple placed upon her tiny little lips
I knew that this moment for her wasn't truly fun...

When she noticed I hadn't stopped looking at her beautiful face
She asked just what is it you are looking to see?
She placed her arms around me and sighed I love you Mommy
And, then stretched to place the lavender kisses upon my cheek...

Saunni - very sweet post - enjoyed. Chris

If this is of your child....keep it,  lock
it up and let her have it many many years
from now,  she may follow your footsteps
and write wonderfully beautiful words too.
