You lie beside me, resting, breathing slowly in peaceful slumber.
I watch your closed eyes, looking for signs of dreams.
I touch your hair softly, not to waken, just to appreciate, remember.
Your flesh calls me but I refuse for I would awaken you.

The sensuous fragrance of smooth clean skin tempting me
Yet I resist, your rest so important to me, so dear to you.
Curves winding peacefully beneath clean white sheets.
A road to paradise for two familiar with the road ahead.

Both having experienced many years of winding curves.
Hearing the same sounds, sighs, swells of firm flesh.
Familiar with the touches required to bring each pleasure.
Sometimes given to new and exciting thoughts, things.
Remembering all good moments between sheets,
forgetting all the bad, for none were ever bad.

Knowing that it was OK to not always be right on time.
To not always have the firmness of youth, the energy.
Feeling comfortable when it just did not work right.
Understanding when NO really did not have to be said.

I remember all of our good moments, the great moments...
I laugh at those not so great...They are normal, just life.
I cherish your company, I never want an empty bed.
I always want to touch your hair as you sleep, smiling.
My life means so little without you here, sharing sleep.

*sigh*. This is lovely. You and your wife are lucky indeed to have such a wonderful marriage. But then again, it has been said that we make our own luck. And you have made it very well. Wonderful poem

thanx Tracey.....we are not Ozzie and Hariett.  (things don't always go that well)
but I just had a sentimental moment and
wanted to let her know in my words what
she means to me.  I never tell her enough.

Barry; What a sweet and gentle poem.  Those are wonderful things to say about your relationship with Lou. There is something so special about being married for a long period of time and knowing and recognizing those things about each other.  I am glad for you to have that type of relationship.  As you said, "We're no Ozzie and Harriet." I understand that, but you do recognize you do have something VERY SPECIAL.  Hold on to that, my friend.  Wanda

Awwww a true romantic you are. I bet your wife loves that about you! I've yet to find a man who can express himself through poetry.

Magnus - A very soft and moving piece...I enjoyed this. Chris

*sigh* wonderfully romantic. You give me hope that there are men out there like this who love deeply and show it. Your wife is one very lucky lady and because they say behind every great man is a great woman...I would say you are one very lucky man. BRAVO!!! I love it.  Keep showing her your heart, my friend.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.
