Words just don't come easy,
you feel certain this is true...
those feelings deep inside your heart
cannot be expressed by you

You're sure that with your meager words
there is no way you can reveal
the things you want to say to me,
to let me know the way you feel,

"I must think on this some more,
just give me time ", your plea I hear
"for with great thought and meditation,
I'll find the words to tell you, Dear."

You hide behind the laughter
making light of deeper things,
and borrow words from someone else,
quoting songs that others sing.

You're sure for me it's easier,
for me the words are always there;
there's no way under the bright blue sky
you could ever hope to compare.

But you do not know the struggle
that goes on inside my head,
to find the words I want to say,
just the way I want them said.

I toss words here, I toss words there,
on and on my lines unfold,
and still I feel I've come up short,
half my feelings left untold.

So never underestimate
the power your words hold;
the grip they put upon my heart
the moment they are told.

I marvel every time you find them,
each time they touch my heart anew,
how you can say exactly how I feel,
though you utter just a chosen few.

Poetry is an expression of feelings. I do not write poems, but rather, the poems use me to write themselves.

YES!!! I love this! I can understand this to the fullest possibility. wonderful work needs to be seen!

Beautifully written. This speaks to me deeply, as I have these very same feelings. I often cannot say the words I want. Welcome to Passions, and I look forward to seeing more from you. Always nice to have another Canuk here
