Don't get me wrong, I love them all, stocky, thin, short and tall... in ties and suits or just blue jeans, boxers, briefs, or nothing please! It used to be the pretty boys who always turned my head--- then one day I noticed that they loved themselves instead! So give me now the gentle man-- the one that's learned through time, acquiring taste for finer things-- a palette for fine wine. I love the silken silver hairs of forestry on chest... and every wrinkle round the eyes boasts laughter and the tears they've wept. I love the way they look at me as if they can't believe their luck... my next rhyme now must be discreet-- but I love the way they love! An older man, you'd think would rush, but no, he savors every touch. He acts as though he is quite blest-- as if I were a treasure chest; and when he thinks that I don't see I catch him gaze adoringly... When I'm blue, he understands. In sympathy he holds my hand. It's a relief to just be held and in his arms I love to dwell and listen to his stories told-- each one a nugget of pure gold. I love them all, please understand, but there is nothing better than the gentleness of gentleman-- Oh give to me, the older man! |

Nice work, Karen. A lot of truth in this one, but I'm wondering, at what age does one become an older man? LOL Michael Michael Auguste~ |

Serenity, I agree most of the men who are the cutest spend too much time loving themselves and making themselves cute to fully love another. Dawn |

Interesting and insightful perspective, k, and a nice write too. And comforting. I enjoyed. Now, I wonder if an 'older man' might respond? e |

Smiles for you all---and hmmm...what qualifies as "an older" man? I suppose that would be relative to YOUR OWN AGE. evil grin....but I DO love the gray hair...and those crinkly smiling eyes do me in everytime! But enough, or I'll be all "adrift" again! Oh...and for the record...I'm forty and loving it...so send resume's, write me poetry---CONVINCE ME!!!!! Thanks to the forum for the much needed smiles today! |

Karen, I enjoyed this as how I am an older man. Yes, the wrinkles say a lot. Such wisdom is carried within older eyes and hearts. You have inspired me to feel ever younger. Think my wife will notice the difference? Thanx. |

Hmm..I was just commenting on something like that last night! This is cute, Ser! now..how about Sean Connery, eh? Strange..I dated a younger guy once in my life, and it was the most wonderful thing ever. Of course..he was 14 and still learning, and I was 16. Three years of blissful youthful love, fun, and lust. There was more honesty in that relationship than I have known even til now. Thankers for making me think, Ser! laters! *Jenn* Sometimes the heart needs the solace of solitude and silence. |

AH! I don't know about this. I think a man can be wonderful at any age. I've known some young men who were wise beyond their years and some old men who were nothing more than 5 year olds. Though the older I get, the fewer 'older' men there are around..hmmmm. I loved this one missy! |

I love this is a popular topic among women now, they want older men. Also reminds me of my dad, he's 75 and doesn't consider himself a senior citizen????? |

I think all young women should know what just a smile from them means to an "older man".God will bless you. paladin |

A fun read, Serene one Almost the flip side of Ben Franklin's "In Praise of Older Women" They don't yell. They don't swell. They don't tell And they're grateful as hell! |

Well now. Finally someone appreciates the touch of love beyond the bounds of passion alone. Finally someone realizes there is so much more to love, than the moment. Finally someone sees theres more to a person of years than just the color of his hair and maybe the wrinkles that don't go away anymore. But don't misunderstand - one doesn't have to be older to have a touch of class when it comes to relationships. I guess I qualify as an "older man", in years anyway - got 11 on you - but sure don't feel that way between the ears, and I like to think I am very much the gentleman - I strive to be anyway. If it weren't for my wife, the years we put in together, the feelings we've shared and nutured, and the relationship we have always treasured, I'd write you poetry, my southern friend, that would stop you dead in your tracks, and if I accomplished nothing else, I'd see that the rest of your life was awash with the warmth of love. But, alas, I'll stick with Terry until one of us is gone...so can only wish you the moments I'd shower you with, the love I'd give, the heart and soul that would belong to you...in the touch of anothers hand. Be loved my friend, for the rest of your years. jwesley [This message has been edited by jwesley (edited 10-31-2001).] |

Well this poem was something else, and yes, very true...but...I love all men period, but I am not as young as your are, so I have to tell you...give me a younger man anytime then I am one happy camper! But...when I was in my 20's, I always wanted an older man for all the reasons you have said in your poem so Sunshine is right - a simple YES will suffice HAH! Now how ambiguous is this comment? ~*~ Carpe' Diem ~*~ |
