What other being
Feels the stretch of smile
Across her belly
Cradling it
Afraid she is not enough?

From the womb we rise
In anticipation
Of our first kiss
Our first dance
Our first chance
To glow in ball room light

Trying so hard
To stay as supple
As the petals of our first rose

When life hands us
The rough slap of road burn
We cry sometimes
We fall sometimes
In sisterhood
We help our fallen rise up

Leathering our hearts
Hiding the scars
Crawling if need be

Looking in the mirror
Covering our Grey
Erasing the lines

Teaching our daughters
How to blend
Courageously allowing
Them not to

Pushing up all that falls
Putting on a pretty face
Even when we ache

Being female
Means my body has
It's own crazy demands

Unmet, I wither
Whether from cancer or canceling
My own self worth

I see my Mother..In her Golden Years
I see why they call it Golden
For though she is silvery in wisdom
I say she is the most beautiful
meaning of Grace....

I will age
For myself
In all my female glory
Touching as many lives as possible
With what God gave me
Feminine hands, soft heart
Constantly changing mind
Trying to spend myself wisely
Saving a little
Just for me.

Absolutely stunning and perfectly said. You weave a tapestry of life with this poem and its colors fill the senses with how perfectly it shows the life of a woman. Well done.

Yes! I prefer the company of females. Non threatening yet durable enough to have the longer lifespan. Unabashed sentiment and sensitivity. Equal in intellect, superior in body and the vessel God chose to house man's soul. The fountain of life and the bath of true pleasure. Viva la difference!

Regina,

A lot of wisdom in this one and saving a little for you, yes, good decision.  Though almost every friend I have is female, I sometimes still find you all a mystery.  I hope it will always remain so.  A pleasant day to you.

Regina, may I say you have captured the essense of womanhood with such grace and wisdom.  I suppose I almost fit into the golden/silver category and I intend to age with grace and dignity.  You show the wisdom of aging for what it is - experience, and youth for what it is - seeking inner knowledge, and you speak truth!  Well done indeed.
