Fibers of Alive

You have seen fibers of alive.
They breathe from singing trees,
the ones by the path,
and all across the green meadow
where the lupine and poppies mix their spring,
they give definition to color.
Just now I saw them dance
in a black cat flying across the cracked cement
onto the crooked fence all wink eyed and puffed.

The leaves that have fallen in the alley
make the sound,
when just a little wind
is like a perfect instrument has blown
a soft rattle into the air.
Fiber is the vibration of earth,
the earthquake of millions, breathing.

And I forget to listen to the birds,
they are such a part of the nuance,
that their sound is like my own breath,
but in the early of my listening
they remind me out of the quiet of night
that I can hear the traffic on roads miles away
and that the ocean sound is
crashing into someone’s open window
who is listening too,

and that thought makes me feel so connected
to some magnificence that I just want to burst.

I think of life now with such amazement,
for a tiny hand is curled now in womb,
and I can see it push against the soft cage,
anxious to move into air and light
and make a great screech
to that reverent thing, life.

I will be listening.

and so I just know
that love never dies
and that souls hold all the candles
and they are the kind
you can’t blow out

Just keep listening Martie, it's amazing how much more we hear when we do.

I KNEW this grandbaby was going to inspire amazing poetry from you...
she's not even here yet...and its begun...
and I for one cant wait to see more of this poetic anticipation and discovery of her...
and what she brings out in you...
I too WILL be listening
me

This distance has shown how the road remains alone
Now I'm looking in my life ... for a truth that is my own.

Martie - do you realize what a wonderful gift you have, and how unselfishly you share this gift with everyone?! Wonderful. Chris

I agree with Nightshade, for it is from you I "feel" what see in my mind.  Your writing is truly a gift, a God-given gift.  This was simply beautiful once again, and a keeper, but they all are.
