The Letter – Transient Times – Part 9

“A dove’s message, how like him
to be so clever, and how like him to
rely so much on fate,” for it to find her,
                        those many months past….

Now, white hair templed her face, small
fine lines deepened the olive of
her eyes, and still she held on to the
hope of the note that lay in her palm,

                        these many years gone by…

she sat alone in the great room, at
the window that faced the bay
her eyes ever watching the horizon for
                        his return,
                        which had never come,
but which had never left her heart,
she imagined it so well, his
face, his arms, his scent that still filled her
                        emotions

and she wept, quietly, wondering if
she should finally give in to his
                       family’s bidding, and declare him…

“Mother?  Mother, I’ve reached a decision
and I would beg you, please, please
grant me leave, that I may do now that
which I have always dreamed to do,”

she looked up into the face of her
son, seeing her husband, again, but not,

“Mother, it is time I look for my father,”

and the Lady caught up her thoughts,
turned to her son, and heard

                        “M’lady, m’mere, my dear heart
‘tis only a matter of ways
before I return to your dear heart
my father, to your loving ways

for the love of him you’ve carried
                        and in my life, inspired
the depth of a love that’s purely true
and a light that I would lift higher”

She looked into his brown eyes
knew her husband’s heart still beat
closed her eyes to the terror
                        to only hear him repeat

                        “M’lady, m’mere, my dear heart
‘tis only a matter of ways
before I return to your dear heart
my father, to your loving ways

for the love of him you’ve carried
                        and in my life, inspired
the depth of a love that’s purely true
and a light that I would lift higher”

she opened her eyes to see him
standing tall and true in strength
and knew it a matter of time
that he would seek his own way

with or without her blessings, so,
she would walk with him to the bay,
for he needed to do this, not for her,
but to find the man that gave him life,

and she spoke her words, softly,

“Do that which you need to do
and in your search, please pursue
the reason for your being, dear,
when you find him, hold him near”

and kissed this man, her only son
bid him adieu, and he was gone

                        alone, she placed her faith
in better hands and cried no more
                        but waited, olive eyes
                        haunting blue horizons, for her
                        life to return to her.

I do so enjoy you well inspired.........

(still bookmarking) (and peeking) *L*

This distance has shown how the road remains alone
Now I'm looking in my life ... for a truth that is my own.
