“I Can’t Give You Happiness”

When our relationship takes 1 step forward, we always take 2 steps in reverse,
Whenever good days arrive, they quickly turn to the worst.
When I see you mad like this it really hurts me severely,
I want to comfort you but you don’t want to be near me.
I’m trying to get our relationship back in order,
But it seems like we keep slipping below that happiness border.
I feel like you don’t think that I want to be your man,
But if you only knew that you were my heart; and to be with you was my plan.
I want to take you on trips to exotic places, vacations to foreign lands,
And I want to watch the sunset with you on beaches of pearly white sand.
My dreams are fading quickly because I can see,
That the feelings we have aren’t what they used to be.
Before you left, we had fun; you had a smile on your face,
But now that you returned those emotions were erased.
I cried many nights while you were gone,
Praying for a miracle to bring you back home.
Now that you’re back, I thought you would be happy again,
But it seems like no matter what I do, your happiness I can’t win.

All you can ever give is your love and understanding, sprinkled with patience and time. She has to decide for herself if the love you offer brings her happiness.
I can feel you pain and sadness here, and hope time will mend these wounds.
