When my sadness is the spark, to landmines in the hills
All unlucky nomads there, so swiftly will be killed
If I'm at ground zero's place the number is my age
And all will know without pause this canyon is my rage

With burning shrapnel falling through day of crispy air
Smelling certain tinge of death of skin and human hair
This must be the path I’ve drawn, for many thousand miles
All along the lonely way, turned down your hopeful smiles

Don’t send contributions to just any cause you find
You can think of multitudes that do tests in real landmines
Here they all must feel the pain of secondary shame
Look into the desert dust, the crosses without names

Walt, this made me think of the landmines in Afghanistan that the refugees are stepping on in their efforts to escape. I don't know if that was what you meant in your poem (cause I just got home from the pub and my mind isn't so sharp right now!!), but that was what I got out of it, and it touched me deeply. Wonderful writing...as always

(sad sigh) My heart cries out to all these innocent refugees and I pray that something can be done to stop the production and ignition of them! (sad sigh) I heard that 1 in every 6 in Africa are affected by land mines too, it's so so terrible! (tears fall down my cheeks) Such a sad but well-written poem, dearest Walter! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Walter, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

I did want ya'll to think of the landmines as something that is going on right now and in hte poem I am relating them to a landmine being someone who is really sad and depressed and the effect they have on others that love them. The burning shrapnel is me lashing out at my friends and loved ones when I am sad.
