It’s a form of torture
A mental suicide
It makes me turn away
run and hide

Your memory slams into me
The violence rushes through
And I am trapped remembering
The cruelty that came from you

I wish I could remember something happy
To help erase this anger that I feel
I wish I could think of  just one sweet thing
So this pain could heal

How sad that I can’t even find
One single memory
One good time shared
Just you and me

I sit and let the tears roll down my face
Wondering one more time, why
Rocking myself back and forth
I let the past once again, die

Big, warm hugs, gal.  Let the memory die, and while it is dying, remember you cannot be harmed again.

If you ever need 6'4" of pure Texas stampede, you just call yore guy pal

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Susan,  unfortunately,  most all of us have
some part of our past that we each would like
to let die.  I like the rythm of your poem.
the content is great,  and sadly,  too
often true.  I hope you are not experiencing
this right now.

Honey, when painful memories come haunting you, light a candle. Let that flame light your thoughts and find peace in the center of it.  There is nothing that can stop us from remembering, but sometimes the comfort and peace that we see and feel from a candle can make us feel the past is not so dark.

Dear one....I know how the pain can surface bringing back dark memories. My heart goes out to you for I also know how hard it is to put them aside and move forward. You have done a wonderful job in trying to put the past behind you and it shows in every word you write. Take care, dear one.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Good to hear the memories grow dimmer all the time. And that you have someone so special now to help with that
Well said, Sea.

(big hugggssssss) Oh Susan, my heart cries out to the sorrow in your heart! (big hugggssssss) Your golden heart is filled with so much love and deserves so much more than what has happened. (sad sigh) My heart is with you and I pray for the greatest love and joy for you! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Susan, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

So sad Sea....so sad that we ever have to experience cruelty. I know that it made me a different person...One that will ensure it to never happen again. But there will always be some small snap of memory..here and there..but it won't rule you...a loving heart.

Sincerely,
Regina

I am glad you are not in this situation, now. And I hope the memories fade quickly for you. I have alot of bad memories myself. Every now and then, they do come back. Thank you for sharing this.

Ah Susan, this is such heartfelt writing. I know what you mean, about these feelings rising to the surface sometimes. But it sounds like you have a certain perspective on it, and that's good

Susan,

Memories can be a haunting and lonely thing and usually surface when you least expect them to.  My thoughts are with you... it might be in the past and over but the pain is still very well felt... as I (and everyone) well know. Hugs to you until you work your way through.

Sometimes we have to hold on to the worst tightly, in order to let it go, fully...

and completely.

Well done, little one...
