On to the Blue ridge mountains
High backyard of North Carolina
Across the fields of green tobacco
rolls the road west
Then through Durham with long sheds
of aged gold leaves behind her
Up the steps of low rolling hills
that flow from crest to crest
Next comes North Wilksboro
city of fast cars and moonshine likker
Outside Boone the road grows steeper
as the mountains become thicker
A trip to the mountains remains
forever in my mind
To see the breath taking vistas
and leave my cares behind

*sigh* I live just east of the Rockie Mountains so this poem drew my eye when I saw the title. There is such a magic about mountains and to my vision your poem captured it taking me on a trip to the mountains nearby. Very well done. I love this poem.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Ah, sounds like a lovely trip.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Paladin~
Oh YES ~
Great mountain area for sure~
I go to Murphy to visit friends~
The ONLY other place I've ever considered living~
BUT ... only 4-5 months out of the year ... too cold for this little Injun gal when the temperature dips below 55°~

Wonderfully wistful longing in your write~
*Hugs*

Oh, what a nice easy trip this has been, through the backwoods, past the still stills. Keep writing paladin, you are really on a roll.
