Souls Remain In The Ehime Maru Now in one hundred fifteen feet of water they still lie in wait. Four boys and five men lost to the sea await their final fate. Families and loved ones also wait in Honolulu hotel rooms in hopes that navy divers will find their loved one's remains to help them close their wounds and to ease sorrows refrain. I also wait in hope that all goes smooth. Awaiting the latest news of the battered Japanese vessel they call the Ehime Maru. JamesLee October16 2001 The Ehime Maru is a Japanese fishing vessel that was sunk on February 09 by the nuclear attack submarine US Greeneville. Fortunately twenty-six crewmen and passengers were rescued. Nine went down with the ship when it sunk in 2000 feet of water. The Rockwater 2 successfuly moved the Ehime Maru to 115 feet and American and Japanese divers will begin diving today to search for these nine victims. |

A retreival in this sort of circumstance does seem to be required to 'Close Wounds' as you say James. Lets hope all goes well. Stay warm Jon |

The Navy announced yesterday that it has ended its attempt to recover all nine men and boys who died when the Japanese fishing training vessel was rammed and sunk Feb. 9 by a U.S. fast-attack nuclear submarine. The good news is that after 21 days of diving eight of the nine bodies were recovered...the sad news is that one was not found. In the words of Navy Rear Adm. William Klemm, head of the salvage and recovery mission..."We all have an empty part in our hearts for the missing boys family." James |
