Going for a Ride
By Larry Chadwick

I remember the first time I drove a car,
And insisted that my little brother go with me.
I remember the first time I drove a boat,
And insisted that my little brother go with me.

I remember the first time I drove a truck,
And insisted that my little brother go with me.
I remember the first time I drove a bus,
And insisted that my little brother go with me.

Each and every time we took those rides,
I insisted on the greatest safety and care.
I’d lay out the blanket and set up the chairs,
We could just as well been racing the tortoise and hare.

Sin isn't fair, but God got even, grace isn't fair either.  larry c

Oh, I suspect you will find more of us fantasy 'Easy Riders' out there. Why, I must have put in a good 10,000 miles by the time I was 13. Thanks again, for a fun memory....But I NEVER let my sister take the wheel!

Midnitesun,
My brother couldn't be trusted either.  Though by 12 my dad had me in a real pickup.  How fun!  Thanks again.

Larry - This brings back so many memories of "let's pretend." Just great. Chris

Cindi,
Yup they are.  Besides you always need a passanger, even if they don't pay.  You brought me here and thanks for the favor.  Glad you liked my memory.

Sunshine,
Nice thought.  See I still get passengers even on the trip back.  I think I really like that.     Thanks.

Chris,
You're right.  There are many others.  (Food for thought) Glad you enjoyed it.

Vicky,
Thanks. Guess a bunch of us have been there huh? I'm sure your rides were as fun as mine.

(smiles) Oh, how sweet it was to spend such time with your dearest brother! (big hugggsssss) I too remember going on long tractor rides with my grandpa, and riding with him in the front seat of his pick-up truck to fishing holes! (sigh) I love it, dearest friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Larry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

*grin* do you think I could go on the next ride with you if I promise to make you drive safely. This is another of your delightful poems. I am becoming a very big fan of these.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.
