I lie awake at night and hear The rhythm of your breath What makes you hold your thoughts inside? Still showing your duress Are scars cast deep enough to cause Such lingering of pain Looking for words to comfort you Is driving me insane Is there a way to reach your heart? And bring it back to life Remove from it the darkened edge And add to it some spice A twinkle in those lovely eyes A sign to let me know That the effort I am giving Eventually will show Sometimes it makes me wonder Is it you or is it me? Open up and let me in Together we can see If what lies ahead gets bumpy We can weather through the storm But without the words being spoken There’s cause for such alarm I’ll hold my hands together In place shaped as a cup In it place your heart And trust I won’t corrupt But treat it oh so gently Connecting yours with mine The feelings I am having Is in the grand design.
