If Mothers ruled the world We would talk alot more Before sending our sons to war. We'd spend hours, maybe years Trying to work out our differences Before sending our sons to war. We'd meet with heavy hearts, heavy souls Praying in our own ways to our own God Before sending our sons to war. We'd all agree to sacrifice our own lives, Leaving behind our children to live in peace Before sending our sons to war. If only Mothers ruled the world...... Live today as if it's your last. Love today as if it's your first. Lisa |

Indeed - Unfortunately, women have few or no rights within the realm of our impending enemy of today... Well said, Carolina.. |

If mothers ruled the world they'd grab the bad guys by their ears and make them wish they were good! Great poem. As my borough has always stated- Do or Die. |

It's a nice fantasy, Carolina, but it hasn't worked so well in practice, though I wish it did, and I would gladly renounce male participation in the world's politics if it were true. But wars seem to start just as readily under female leaders as under male. And did you realize that the Pakistani regime that assisted the Taliban to take over Afghanistan was headed by a women - Benazir Bhutto - who, I believe, was also a mother? Nice fantasy; I wish it were true. Still, I greatly favor greater political activity by women, as I believe their participation does help make the world a bit more civilized, even if it doesn't stop every war. Incidentally, has the idea been raised that perhaps it is the actual full participation in the raising of children that lessens the desire to send young men off to war, rather than the act of being a mother? It has been my experience that the childless and the distant parents of either sex are the most dangerous. |

LOL@wayoutwalt. Um, no we wouldn't, not if our Mother-In-Laws were still living. Thank you everyone. Being a mother, I find myself in complete sorrow for the Mothers that lost their children on September 11th, for the Mothers that lost their children in the Middle East, and for those Mothers that have children that serve in the military, police force, fire departments, and any service area that protects the citizens of the USA. God Bless America Live today as if it's your last. Love today as if it's your first. Lisa |
