The Smell of Love One long bikeride, The sun beat my skin into hide, my heart raced up the hills and down Past corn fields, soybeans and small towns, ten miles of country, In and out, I followed grandpa’s route. Every cookie, every meal, every glass of whole milk they ever set before me I treasure. Every time I sat in their kitchen, or on the seat of one of their bikes, or in the back of one of their many and varied rickety old cars, I treasure. The moments I spent with them string together into a blanket of love, that smells heavy and sweet, grassy and warm, like a bikeride that is the smell of love. |

You made me want to jump on mine and ride! Wonderful poem. Great imagery and comparison. Sincerely, Regina |
