We gave our vows and we agreed To try to meet each other's needs At first everything was nuptial bliss Starting each day with more than a kiss Then up to my elbows in crinkly suds Aftermath of dinner with your boss and buds As you jockey your way up the ladder I've been working up a lather Doing the laundry, cleaning the kids (Any buyers? I'm taking bids) I find my hands are getting wrinkly But your shirts are crisp and crinkly You work downstairs on your proposal Ever at your client's disposal I head up stairs to rinse my bones Thinking that I am alone But there you were, lounging against the sink My Secret Lover, and in a blink I had my hands all over you Trembling like spiderweb's dew With you in the tub I turn up the water My pulse is racing (is it getting hotter?) You grant my body a sensual kiss And I sink into sudsy bliss Of my Secret Lover, what can I say But "Calgon, take me away!" Alicat “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” Charles Darwin [This message has been edited by Alicat (edited 07-12-2001).] |

This caught my eye because my father worked for Calgon and so our linen closets were always well stocked with bath oil beads...glad I read, cracked me up. That nice, steaming bath always helps, doesn't it? |

Even with the title and thinking about the "Calgon" ad, you still caught me by surprise. I'm sure that means that you've written this so very craftily that the reader is taken far away from their memory and woven into caring deeply for the speaker in this piece. Either that, or I'm just easily distracted by...well some of the things you said. Absolutely delightful...if I were allowed baths, I'd be off to the stor for my own box. |

Doing the laundry, cleaning the kids (Any buyers? I'm taking bids) - Loved this line! Been the stay-at-home Mom before, and my best friend at the time was a stay-at-home Dad. He ran into so much crap! Other moms would ask me: "What does he do?" I always answer: "The same as you." The response was always, "Yes, but doesn't he do anything? Work out of the house?" He was also not allowed to have girl scout meetings at his house, since he's a man. A kind of reverse discrimination, it was. It isn't easy being a stay-at-home parent, but trust me, there are parts of it that you will cherish for the rest of your life. Thanks! Corinne |
