Of flies in the ointment , more than I can count , incessently buzzing their noise seem to mount 'til what I was thinking is all but drowned out , while hope is fast sinking be-leaguered by doubt . I grasp for a staw to come up with thin air , like trying to win a rigged game at the fair . The out-come's predictable down to a " T " , the odds just don't favor a poor sod like me . And yet I keep trying to win just the same , no stranger to bad luck I call him by name , for we've known each other so long we're now friends. If given my druthers , with him , time I'll spend . For nothing is lost nor is gained 'til is tried , and I'd rather know that he stands by my side , to share my be-musement while this big wheel spins , for so long as I'm losing then he cannot win . This consummate gambler takes bets large or small , and knows in the end that it's winner take all , so I'm glad that bad luck and I have this bet ... " As long as I'm breathing , I'm not finished yet !" |
