Penelope, melt ‘way your fear
Whisper nothings that catch my ear
I have the rage of Ares spear
Your husband’s dead and I am here

Penelope, melt ‘way my pain
If Odyss's had half a brain
He’d never leave you to abstain
Others seek you for their gain

Penelope, melt ‘way your want
I’d never take you just to flaunt
Odyss’s ghost would come and haunt
I’d treat you like you were my aunt

Penelope, melt ‘way and greave
These twenty years you sit and weave
Could it be your husband’s leave
Left a hurt you could not cleave?

Penelope, fair, shed a tear
Your husband’s body? He’s not here!
So take me in your arms my dear
You smell of lilies when you’re near

Penelope, fair, don’t despair
I’ve tangled with Medusa’s hair
Yours is golden, blessed with care
Icarus died upon its flair

Penelope, fair, you inspire
Your husband’s dead and I do tire
My blistered fingers from the lyre
Hurl my heart upon the spire

Penelope, fair, love returns
Athena’s will would not be turned
And I, into the shadows burned
I only wished to show concern

Walt~
I thought this was just marvelously done.
It's a wonderful read-aloud piece.
Kudos !
