I am frozen. Encased in the Frigid facts, with metabolism So slowed by The long exposure, I can no longer Rise from Hibernation To see new Sun Winter ends, I know… Or we simply Learn to embrace The temperature And cope with The day to day To day to day Of lessened light And layers Of protection We must wear. Living in Igloos May be survival But you have No windows To let in Light |

Well, I started to pick a line, or two, that struck me, but it lead to another one, or two, that hit a little harder, until I had almost copied the whole thing.... so I guess all of it likes me, and very well, indeed.... thank you for this! |

...like a York Peppermint Patty, without the benefit of pleasure... I've felt this way before, but never put it to such a unique perspective -- I enjoyed this, Ron, and always love how the titles of your poems or integral to their overall meaning. -MVS "When you tell the Truth, you never have to remember what you just said." |

My shoot-from-the-hip interpretation is one of the question of ignorance versus knowledge. It strikes up a bit of a mental debate (which concluded quickly *L*) as to whether it would indeed be better to igloo oneself in from the light, and with it the cold, or to stand outside in the sun and let oneself feel the bitter bite as it comes. I am perhaps too much of a curious person, I suppose, but I can't ignore the light when I know it's there. ![]() Enjoyed this quite a lot. Thanks! Ted |
