The wildflower's glittering mix of vibrancy
has whittled to a flashing instant.

Easter's basketed faux greenery drained
luster to a brown yellow bale of hay,

It's parade viewed trailing and askance
slowed considerably to a shadowed dirge.

Seafoam aquamarine has taken on the
color of well worn mop water and

the sky is forever a dusted dusk.

Aging cities mummify from murals to murk.
Houston becomes Chicago, Chicago, New York,

New York, London, London, Rome, as all
we know recedes to the past.

Autumn rains mute dying colors
down another level of grey.

The wild Leif Ericson red beard surrenders
to white as fire eyes smolder.

The earth slips on it's smoking jacket
to retire by the fire of it's self immolation

where even it's flames hide in haze
and winter looms.

Well done. I found this to be quite powerful, and it made me think.

God bless America, my home sweet home.

*sigh*
You're gonna be a famous writer one day, and when you are I SWEAR you'll be my addiction.   Ohh..NOW I remember. You already are.   This was a wonderful description of the coming Autumn, sir. I love it.
