I rarely write a poem in one sitting, but I did this one during my lunch hour today, immediately after my class and I stood together before our flag in a moment of silence to honor those lost in this week's tragedies... In unison they stand Before the stars and stripes. The children of our land, All silent and contrite. Each one in quiet prayer In wonder of life's truth. Yet some stand unaware, Immortal in their youth. Thence lessons each must learn To keep for future's day. The wisdom to discern, For they will pave our way. In unison we stand Before the stars and stripes. Our children of the land, Their reverence requites. [This message has been edited by Nan (edited 09-14-2001).] |

Nan that was simply heartwarming. The children are the key to our future, and obviously you teach them well I have printed this for my Granddaughter to see when she gets a little older. Thank you dear one. ~*Be Kind To Your Fellow Man, Lend Him A Helping Hand, Put A Little Love In Your Heart*~ |
