![]() Amid the dust and steel debris A nation mourns her tragedy Upon the shores of liberty Hate plundered all security. Lost Innocents and innocence Scream loud for justice, recompense Against the awful violence That shattered freedom’s confidence. Amid the rubble hear a shout, A mighty battle-cry throughout The land is heard; we’re down, not out; Good shall prevail, without a doubt. Home of the brave, land of the free, Emerge as steel from hate’s debris Forever forged through tragedy Hold fast your hard-won liberty. [This message has been edited by Denise (edited 09-30-2001).] |

"Home of the brave, land of the free, Emerge as steel from hate’s debris" Yes, our hearts are stronger than steel, and we will not be torn down as a nation. |

Our confidence may have been momentarily shattered, but America will rise from this tragedy only to become stronger. God bless us all. Strong words, Denise. God bless America, my home sweet home. |

Denise, wonderful write. I just love the strenght Americans show in crisis. Those terrorists should be afraid, really really afraid. Parker |

Very nice Denise. I share the words of a patriot from our past that certainly apply's today. "These are the times that try men's souls," political writer Thomas Paine, warned in 1774 in his Common Sense pamphlet opposing the tyranny of King George. "The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in the midst of crisis, shrink away from the service of their country. "He whose heart is firm will pursue his principles even unto death. Death in any form is less terrible than tyranny." James |

Thank you, James. Yes, these are the times that try men's souls. Strange how so much has changed with the recent events. I have an online pal who happens to be a Christian minister in India to his fellow muslims. He was telling me just about a month ago that a group called the Taliban had infiltrated his area and had put a contract out on his life as well as others who had 'defected' from Islam. I had told him, at the time, that we Christians here in America have no idea of the torment created by such hatred and murderous intent. We surely do now. He is keeping us in his prayers and asks us to keep him, his family and his congregation in our prayers. God bless us all. |
