In the space between moments

0 posted 2001-09-15 12:04 PM

~Tears~
Like a slow, simmering rain
Carve hollows deep within...
Fire...the slaughter of dreams
And of the innocents
Burn sharply in our eyes.

Splendor of America
~Crumbled~
After the sky took flame
(A horror that shook the world)
And so many of us ask
How can we go on
When our kindred
Lay brutally slain?

Our souls are sliced open-
Exposing fearful flesh
And allowing the ice of hatred
To penetrate...
But we must combat war
~With peace~
And the malice of those
Who unjustly abhor
By loving each other
More than ever before.

My words do little justice for my feelings or to show my compassion for those killed, wounded, and for all the family and friends of the victims as well.  This has hit me so hard, as it has so many.  I felt compelled to write, for that is what we poets do.

God Bless America

This is well put--four buildings are crumbled, but the spirit of America is not. Peace will prevail.

Wonderful work Krista.

God bless America, my home sweet home.

And write on my love and never stop. This has hit everyone of us very hard. Let us take this time to mourn our dead and honor their memories. That last paragraph says it all for me though..

"But we must combat war
-with peace-
And the Malice of those
Who unjustly abhor
By loving each other
More than ever before."

Long live peace, the poetic and spirit. And love.

A very strong poem and expresses much of what
we are all feeling right now.  It still seems so nightmarish!

This says it all:

***
But we must combat war
~With peace~
And the malice of those
Who unjustly abhor
By loving each other
More than ever before.
***

Even at this time of terrible tragedy, we must come together. Thank you for saying this so eloquently.

Very good, Krista. Several of us will take our Individual Identities and write as we can...some historically, some reverently, some with hope, some with fire, and all, yes all, will inspire...

And we shall all do it with the strength of I.

Krissa,

Wonderfully written.  Its just unbelievable to see and hear what is happening.  your last paragraph says it all.  I only hope that peace will finally come, instead of the war everyone is dreading.
