I remember nightly news stories Of battle waged and body counts Black bags loaded on planes To be flown home to a land Where it seemed they were grieved By only family and friends I recall images shown And a public shocked by the things We sent young men and women to do The cause was different The way unclear, but in the beginning, Idealized in people’s minds As saving the world From a creeping menace Quagmires of Jungle mud Stick in clinging heavy ways To the mind Today, after terror has been brought home To stain the soil of our own land With blood and tears Terror and fear We must know all things worthwhile Have a cost First Payment has been made But other installments will follow [This message has been edited by Cpat Hair (edited 09-14-2001).] |

Ah yes...we are of an age...and now history shall add to these memories... |
