Last week I sat home with my  boy
Who is only three
And saw an evil German cockroach
Run in front of me!

So, with the patience of a saint
I put down cockroach baits
With hopes the thing would have his fill
And take some to his mates.

My son said,"Whatcha doing, dad?"
I said, "You want to kill a pest
You don't kill the creatures one by one -
You've got to find the nest."

Yesterday we watched the news..
New York engulfed in flame.
We watched it all, emotions felt
Too terrible to name.

"who did that, dad?", my son asked me.
"Vile creatures, son!", I cried.
"We going to go and find their nest?"
"I hope so", I replied.

great analogy, michael........

i just hope there's never another attempt at  extermi-NATION

remember when they made their own nests and then burned up all the bluish bugs?... *sighohgod*....

anyway..... great analogy... if i wasn't so freaked out over here, i'd try to make a more clever or more complimentary reply.... such a fine Poet you are

You, my Deer, certainly know of the malevolent force of those nasty bugs... You speak with wisdom, indeed..

A good analogy, but perhaps not to offend those who no longer our adversary's you perhaps might want to change this line
"And saw an evil German cockroach"  I do not have to know the species to hate a cockroach.

SEA...big hugs right back atcha!    My best to you and that lucky hubby of yours

Sunshine...don't worry. They will get the royal shaft!

Isis...attagirl! I like the way you think!

doreen...your replies are always complimentary because it is you making them.   Our hopes are the same...

Nan...they only breed and overrun you if they get the chance...it's their nature

Topheth...and thank you very much for reading and replying

Songbird..LOL! No intention to be politically incorrect. Here in S. Florida German cockroaches are a breed apart because they breed much faster, lay more eggs at a time than others, and when you see one, you know you have a REAL infestation!   I wouldn't expect a German to be offended any more that I would a fellow from Lisbon if I referred to a Portuguese Man O' War or someone in Paris if I said I got sick from eating French fries....but I'll try to be more careful in the future   Thanks for your input

Duncan..allow me to raise the Black Flag for ya!   I thank you!

Marge..I came....I saw....I concurred.   Thank you, my Seminole lady

bslicker..thank you, sir

vicky...call me sir again I'm gonna spank you!   (but thank you for the hugs)

Sir Balladeer... you've summed it up most poetically.  May we squash this bug and all its followers where ever it may live.  Peace to you and your's.

Yes, I'm sure now we will root out every nest and obliterate them for good. Well stated, Michael.

this one made me smile..a little ..

i have a 3 yr old..she doesnt understand..i dont know how to explain it to her..in 3 yr old terms..there didnt seem any way to put such violence, such hatred into "3 yr old wording.."

this is a good explanation...

heres hoping we find their nest soon..and out them like the roaches they must be..

(thank you, to a dear kind friend who sent me this link, as i havent tried to read much in pip lately..just cant find the time to sit and cry..

enjoyed this one 'deer man..

hugs, g

Only you could produce such a comforting and wise image from such a gross object.   The nest is being fed daily by the foot soldiers of their species. I hope they become corrupted and carry it to the center of their alien breeding spot and implode within their hiding places. Thank you always.

Sincerely,
Regina

Another gem, Bal.  My 4y/o son barely understands what has happened and he cries for those in that concrete giant that fell.  What a wonderful thing it would be if we could end the threat of terrorism once and for all so that he doesn't have to grow up in fear, or witness his loved-ones die, or serve in the US military himself in some god-forsaken place dispensing "justice" for yet another violent crime.  Pray for your children, America.
