Leaping the rooftops, roof to roof Clothed in the blanket of night, Bathed in the darkness seeming aloof He struggles within his own fight. His skin is like ivory, pale and cold He preys on the meek and the weak. Never was there a predator so bold Never a word does he speak. A perfect and flawless killing machine Precise in execution and intent Leaving nothing of the soul to cling No wasted energy spent. What is this vampire you may ask What hideous beast is this? That goes so efficiently on his task And leaves nothing amiss? Tis only the work of an unhealthy heart Who preys on those in need And knows that from the very start On those he charms he will feed. He is but a man like every man He has no special power He lives by and will die by the hand And does so every hour. Who is this thing that preys on us all? Is he a man indeed? He is one of us and we are all His fodder, his lover, his need. For we are him in each of us And each of us can be Just like him though made from dust We have the power to feed. We are all vampires of the heart. Knight of the Rose. |
