For I Have Borrowed Death ...

~*Marge Tindal*~

Shoulder-cloaked and shrouded
hidden shadow of surmise
For I have borrowed death
to wear in end's demise

Burn of candle - short of wick
end of light that comes too quick
Stalk of walk in corridors
end of life - evened scores

Into opening of death's cavity
steps dead-soldiered march of me
Regimented dementia of rhyme
I have borrowed death
... one last time

Marge---It's 3 something.  The crickets just stopped chirping.  Horror movies the only thing on TV.  And now this!  Where are the babies smiling while sitting in buckets?  Sorry, hope you get my humor here.  Intense poem.

Burn of candle - short of wick
end of light that comes too quick
Stalk of walk in corridors
end of life - evened scores

I've been pondering these same thoughts.  Though, with more concern for moments left unresolved.
It's good to know I'm not the only person awake in what sometimes feels like a very small world.

I like this...and I like the way you have woven the feel into such a few words... very nicely done... not one of us escapes the "darker" side of ourselves forever... your penning here has captured my attention this morning as well as shown me another side of your talent... good work!!

I wish I had read this one before it got dark outside....

Burn of candle - short of wick
end of light that comes too quick

Several parts almost give the feeling of a spell being cast

This one has sent me to my corner to ponder life, but sometimes it is good to look into the darkness....thanks for the glimpse

Very intense indeed! I've never felt quite so close to death as I felt while reading this poem...Poe has certainly awoken!  I want to see the babies in buckets smiling too!
Hugs my friend

Hmmmmm !
Now 'dark' isn't really 'dark' until it's 'dark', is it ???

Marge, this "old" Mother is peeking around the corner before taking another step!  Me and the darkness don't work.  So as I read this I will think twilight...twilight...

Wow, so Marge the Mighty Care Bear can actually write dark poetry?  I didn't doubt it, but it's wonderful to see!
I like how this was kept brief, it left a lot of room for feeling.  Italics in the last line were creepy, wonderful.  The tone... you did everything with the tone of this, a very casual and unusual rhyme, and a lot of other little things that you combined to make this completely perfect.
A thrill, Miss Tindal, and my favourite poem from you that I've read.  I'm placing it squarely in my personal library.
Will read more.     Ciao.

Jeewillikers! Dark is right! But...if you squint, and look real close the picture becomes two fat, adorable little bunnies about to kiss, and no one can tell me any different as it is bedtime!   Good golly gouls girl, this was a goodie!
